Snowing or Sleeting?

I just happened to take a look out of the window in my room, and it appears as though it might be snowing, or at least possibly a snow-sleet mix. For the past couple of days, it has been rainy and windy, and now it looks like the temperature has dropped. (It had been in the forties for the past couple of days, and now it is about 36 degrees Fahrenheit.) Of course the ground is mostly still too warm for it to collect on the grass, but a little bit of snow has begun to gather on the roof and parts of the pavement outside. Oh, yeah. It is almost time for me to start wearing my winter coat ...

This Michigan Weather ...

The weather in Michigan for this weekend has been lousy. It has been raining off and on this weekend, and it has been windy. (Well, at least for the west coast of Michigan.) And today, in addition to raining, it also hailed this evening. (And cold and really windy too.) Supposedly, the west coast of Michigan is to get snow tomorrow. Oh joy. I guess I'll just have to see how the weather turns out tomorrow ...

I Remember That Weekend ...

I just happened to notice Jasia's post on past weather in Michigan. I clearly remember that weekend. I was a freshman in college at that time, and at the time, it was the weekend before finals week at my college. Usually, it does not snow that late in April in Michigan, and I think that was one of the first times in my life that that had occurred. (At least that is the first time that I can remember that occurring.)

Snow ... Again!

Yes, you have read that correctly. Michigan has more snow. Over the past two weeks, the weather where I am at had been warm. Okay, the temperature was probably at the most only in the 40s, but after the weather of this winter, that is warm. Either way it had recently been warm enough that I could wear either my spring jacket or winter coat, until today. Since it was fairly warm, I left my window open overnight, and when I woke up this morning, I discovered that my room was cold. All I had to do was look out the window to see that it was snowing pretty well. When I first I looked out the window, I thought there was only a couple of inches of snow. Well, after getting dinner this evening, I have to say that there is more than two inches on the ground. I'm guessing there is at least three or four inches on the ground. And it is still snowing quite steadily.

Of course, I should not be surprised to see snow. Generally, one cannot say Michigan is free of snow until after the second week of April, although three years ago, it snowed as late as the third or fourth weekend of April. Either way, this winter has been quite harsh. Supposedly this winter is supposed to be either the coldest or most severe that Michigan has experienced in fifty years. (At least that is what my dad heard on the radio.) I can definitely say that I don't believe Michigan has had this much snow since the winter of 1998-1999. Oh, well. Winter isn't over yet.

Snow - Again!

It is snowing again in Michigan where I am at, and the wind is really blowing outside. It is bad out there and it is cold. A person could easily freeze out there, even if he or she is wearing layers, especially if you happen to stop and stand for a few minutes.

This has definitely been one of the wildest winters that Michigan has had in a long time.

Weather Update - West Michigan

I just got back inside from participating in an outside-class function (It was for a class, but it wasn't during class), and the weather is just getting worse by the hour, if not by the minute. It has been snowing steadily since about 10 a. m. (or at least it wasn't snowing at 8 a. .m), and it is snowing ever harder than it was then. Right now, at about 4:17 p. m., it is snowing enough to be a partial white-out. At about 12:37, I'm guessing there was about half - in - an - inch to an inch of snow out, and now I'm guessing there is about three inches. (And I just heard thunder a second ago.) Either way, it is bad enough for my university to cancel classes and activites after four p. m. (My school rarely cancels classes.)

If you live in West Michigan, be careful out. If you live on the east side of Michigan, I would probably leave work a little earlier, as it is only going to get worse. The bad weather is coming.

Hoping For the Best ...

I've been hearing over on the news about the destruction down in the south. I'm hoping that bloggers who live down South are alright.

Oh The Weather ...

For the past few days, it has snowed almost continuously, and it is still snowing outside. (At least that has been true for the area of West Michigan where I am at.) I'm guessing that there is at least four inches or more out on the ground. Sometimes I wonder if my ancestors experienced winters in Michigan similar to the winters I have experienced, or if their winters were worse. Someday, I'll get around to looking that up.

The Weather ...

I usually don't write about the weather where I am at, but the weather has turned a bit ugly over this past day. (As it is December, those of who live around the Great Lakes know, the weather can get bad at winter time.) Earlier, it snowed and rained on the west side of Michigan. Unfortunately, the rain froze on top of the little snow that we got, and so it is very slippery. If you live on the east side of Michigan (and farther east), the bad weather is heading your way. I just want to let people know.
